Who am I?

I’m Pixie, a queer weirdo with lived experience of Autism and ADHD who is passionate about celebrating neurodiversity and encouraging people to live their best life.
I’m an energetic, enthusiastic & colourful person. I enjoy connecting with queer neurodivergent people and using my energy and lived experience to support and inspire them to live authentically and thrive in their diversity.
I was a librarian for 12 years which has given me excellent skills in organisation, general IT & information management. I can help people with time management, planning, life administration, errands and other organisational or planning needs.
I have experience in plant based and vegan cooking from running a catering business and working in hospitality prior to my librarian career. I love cooking, meal planning, shopping for ingredients, all of that and I really enjoy helping people with this. I’m particularly ipassionate about supporting people with developing their cooking skills and embracing the joy of eating plants and trying new things.
I love being active, walking, hiking and running and I love to support people with finding the joy in movement and physical activity, I have found so much benefit in moving my body and connecting with nature and it’s an honour to share this joy and experience with other autistic people.
I can service all of metropolitan Adelaide in my trusty Prius. I enjoy long drives and can support people with community access and having adventures.

Psychology - Bachelor Degree. This study gave me an excellent foundation in psychological theories, practices and understanding and encouraged me to investigate mental health, wellbeing, and neurodiversity-affirming practice beyond the traditional paradigms. I am passionate about providing support that is affirming of, and adaptable to, individual identity, experience, and preferences.
Library & Archival Management - Masters Degree. This study developed my lifelong special interest in organising into specific information management expertise across physical and digital platforms. Basically, I know how to help you organise your life and I have the library degree to prove it.
Autism Studies - Graduate Certificate. Doing this study was a fascinating dive into the academic perspective on Autism, in contrast to lived experience perspectives, and solidified my passion and desire for neurodiversity-affirming practice and the centering of Autistic voices in services and policy.
Short Courses - First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, Assisting Clients with Medication, Support Coordination, Indigenous Cultural Awareness, Indigenous Cultural Property and Intellectual Property, & Covid Infection Control Training. I am always looking for opportunities to build my skills and expertise so I can be an effective support to a diverse range of neurodivergent people.
I have completed all the relevant screenings including the NDIS Worker Check, National Police Check and the Working with Vulnerable People Check.

This is where I'm going to info-dump about things I'm super into that relate to my personal experience of being neurodivergent and exploring various hyperfixations and research that I find super interesting. You know, for all those folx out there who hate doing research or just want a quick summary of those fancy-pants academic papers. I totally get it, not everyone wants to dive into that kind of stuff. I worked in university libraries for a long time and I've spent a ton of time wading through all that academic writing and now I can totally break it down for those who aren’t into it as much.
Keep in mind that everyone's experience is different, so if you're gonna try something new that could have good or bad effects, it's best to talk to a professional and get additional opinions. I am not offering professional advice here, simply sharing some of the interesting research and resources that are out there that relate to the neurodivergent experience.
Most recently I have been fascinated by the work of Dr. Miyabe Shields, a neurodivergent scientist at the forefront of research into how cannabis can be beneficial for neurodivergent folx.
